Term Paper Writing Styles

Term paper takes up to 50-70 % of your course grade, so you will have to face this time-consuming task. The only thing you can do is to learn how to write the term papers. Moreover, today students should be able to write the term paper in any required writing style. General structure of a term paper is based on the following outline:

  1. Short summary of the paper’s main ideas ( abstract);
  2. Introduction of the term paper;
  3. Description of the involved methods;
  4. Presentation of the obtained results;
  5. Discussion of the findings.

Term paper writing styles:
 
There are three widespread term paper styles: APA, MLA and Turabian, Harvard or Chicago writing styles. Your teacher will usually clarify in what particular style term paper should be written. However, if the term paper style is not identified, it is recommended to use APA format.

  • APA term paper style
    APA or American Psychological Association term paper style is designed for scientific and psychological researches. Its peculiarity is in the placement of the title of the term paper, which should be situated in the upper-right corner of each page together with the page number. Besides, reference section is a compulsory part of an APA style term paper.
  • MLA term paper style
    MLA or Modern Language Association term paper style is commonly used for social research papers. Unlike the APA, MLA term paper style requires to place the author’s name and the page number in the upper right corner of each page. Bibliography section is also a must in MLA term paper.
  • Other writing styles – Turabian, Harvard or Chicago- are based on the principles of the listed above term paper styles.
