| 13 | Organizing Your Expository Term Paper Step by Step |
An expository term paper is a specific type of term paper, which presupposes the exposition of plain facts or student’s impressions. You can prepare an expository term paper, which would have an informative nature, or an expository term paper, which would have a descriptive nature. If you prepare the fist type of a term paper (informative term paper), you will have to present the bold facts only. If you prepare the second type (descriptive term paper), your term paper will be based on your experience and impression.
Whatever type of expository term paper you prepare (either informative or descriptive), the structure of your paper will be almost the same. You should structure your expository term paper according to the following scheme:
- You should introduce the topic of your expository term papers to the readers. Briefly state your intentions, what results you expect to achieve. Point out what you are going to study within your paper, what object or event will be described. You should also tell why you consider exactly this object to be worth investigating.
- Afterwards, you should describe the issue of your expository term paper without analyzing it. If your term paper is informative, you should just point the facts, which you have discovered during your background reading. If your expository term paper is descriptive, you may present your own vision of the object or event.
- In the end, you will summarize your work. If your expository term paper is informative, total up the facts which you listed. If the term paper is descriptive, sum up your impressions.
We recommend you not to step aside from such expository term papers structure, because this scheme is generally accepted, and, hence, it is certain to help you succeed in writing your term paper.
