Writing Movie Reviews – Accolades or Rotten Tomatoes!

movie review guide

Writing movie reviews could be a fun activity. What can be better than watching a movie and writing a review about it? The first half hour of the movie decides whether the movie should receive a good rank or should be awarded with rotten tomatoes.

After all, you have paid for the movie and have every right to determine if the movie is worth watching. However, writing movie reviews is also a responsible task and one which should be handled carefully. Movie reviews are written for the purpose of informing readers whether a movie is worth watching or not and states all the major aspects of the movie including the genre of the movie, the title, the genre to which it belongs and the major star cast.

The main theme of the movie should be states clearly in the review. Writing movie reviews is an art and a review should be written succinctly without going into unnecessary details about the movie. A brief summary about the movie plot is enough and the rest of the movie review section should state the theme.

This section will also state whether the director and the actors have done full justice to the movie and whether the purpose has been rightfully fulfilled. Using humour for writing reviews is desirable since it interests the reader, who does not want a simple narration. The use of excellent vocabulary and sarcasm adds to an interesting review and will ensure that the reader reads it till the end.

Movie reviews should also be written in a fixed format with a brief summary of the plot, an analysis of the main theme of the movie and a conclusion including the personal opinion of the writer, whether the movie is worth watching or not. One of the most important aspects of writing movie reviews is the ability to reveal limited information and not the suspense and climax of movies, since this will kill the inertest of the reader if the movie is a thriller.
