progress report writing guide

Progress report writing is not one of the most complicated academic tasks. However, it needs precision and it also follows some definite rules. First of all, it is necessary to define what a progress report is.

Well, progress report is a report on the state (progress, readiness) of some project. What format rules should you follow while progress report writing?

  1. Well, you may start your progress report writing with the heading. Your report should contain the following information: your name, the addressee, date and the subject. As you can see this is the easiest part of your progress report writing.
  2. Many students start their progress report writing with the purpose statement part. Well, this is the essential part of the report. Here you should state the purpose of the report. You should also give some background information. Sometimes such information is written in a separate part: background information part. Can you avoid it while writing your progress report? You should give some background information since your reader may be unaware (or may forget some details) of the project so you will help him/her to be well informed.
  3. Here comes one of the most important parts of your progress report writing. You should write work completed part. You should depict the present state of the project. What is done already?
  4. After this you should start one of the most serious and sometimes terrifying parts of your progress report writing. This is problems section. In this part you should reveal those problems which the project faces. Can they cause delays?
  5. Finally, you complete your progress report writing with mentioning what is still to be done. You can try to evaluate whether he project can be fulfilled according to the schedule.
